Statutory Maternity/Adoption pay (SMP/SAP)
SMP/SAP is paid for 39 weeks
Pay rate for first six weeks of SMP: 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings.
SMP remaining weeks/SAP: £124.88 (from April 2010) or 90% of average weekly earnings whichever is less.
Qualifying conditions: related to earnings level, length of service, time limits for notification, and medical evidence of pregnancy/documentary evidence of matching for adoption.
Statutory Paternity/Partner’s pay (SPP)
SPP is paid for two weeks. The pay rate is either: £124.88 (from April 2010) or 90% of average weekly earnings, whichever is less.
SPP is subject to certain important qualifying conditions: related to earnings level, length of service, time limits for notification, and signed declaration of commitment.
Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)
The weekly rate currently stands at £79.15 per week
Redundancy Pay (next review February 2011
Pay rate: 0.5 weeks pay for each year of service for employees aged under 22 years of age (a week’s pay is £380)
1 week’s pay for each year of service for employees between the ages of 22-40
1.5 week’s of pay for each year of service for employees aged 41 and over
NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE hourly pay rate:
The rates for NMW are reviewed each October and are currently;
£5.80 for workers ages 22 and older
£4.83 for workers aged 18-21
£3.57 for workers aged 16-17
